Title:   Thermoplastic Elastomers and Polymers Derived from Recycled Rubber and Plastics
Inventor:   Ross Stacer
Summary:   This is a patented technique to create new thermoplastic elastomers and impact-modified thermoplastics by blending a recycled thermoset rubber component. The method includes surface treatment for enhancing the phase compatibility of the thermoset and thermoplastic components. The thermoset rubber can be selected from among a variety of recycled thermoset rubber materials, including those already compounded with carbon black, or other fillers and additives, as well as natural and synthetic thermoset rubbers. This process can be used with a variety of oxidizing agents including but not limited to hydrogen peroxide, osmium tetroxide, hydrogen peroxide urea complex, sodium percarbonate, etc.
